What’s New? Julien Chang – Butterflies from Monaco

Recent Transgressive signee, nineteen year old Julien Chang surprised his university classmates when he started releasing his own music. Growing up studying classical and jazz performance at the Baltimore School for Arts, those around him knew him as a quiet trombone player. But, having taught himself how to produce and play multiple instruments, the music Chang released was superbly varied, with catchy hooks, psychedelic grooves and gorgeous melodies epitomising his sound. His debut single, the beautiful “Of The Past“, is a case in point.

Two years on and the result of Julien’s work, his upcoming debut album Jules (October 11, via Transgressive), is ready for release. Entirely self-recorded and self-produced, Jules promises to signal the arrival of a remarkably talented young DIY artist.
