Ever wondered what your favourite band eats on tour? How do they start their day? Homemade gourmet brunch or a packet of cigs and a tub of hummus? Life’s full of unanswered questions and we’re determined to put an end to this being one of them, so we’re on a mission to find the best meals, snacks and treats from some of your favourite musicians.
This month’s edition of Too Many Recipes comes from Australian punk foursome Press Club. Recently on tour in the UK, Press Club shared with us a recipe that probably falls under the ‘when needs must’ category of touring meals. So, here it is… Press Club’s One Bowl Microwaved Mi Goreng and Vegetables – a culinary masterpiece.
Press Club Intro:
“Being on the road is great most of the time, bad sometimes. The worst time on tour is when you roll up to your accommodation for the night and all they have in terms of kitchen accessories is a few bowls and a microwave. Not many truly nutritious meals were cooked in a bowl within a microwave. However, having experienced this more than a few times has led me to develop a recipe that makes tour life a living dream.”
One Bowl Microwaved Mi Goreng and Vegetables
2 Packets of Indomie Mi Goreng Instant Noodles
1 Head of Broccoli
½ Cup of Frozen Peas
Open noodle packets and save sachets of flavour for later. This is very important. If you don’t save the flavour sachets, this dish becomes very dull.
Fill a bowl with water, add noodles peas and broccoli. Can be hard to fit these all in one bowl sometimes, feel free to divide into different bowls for the purpose of cooking.
Heat in microwave for 3-4 minutes. Your really just waiting for the noodles to al dentefi and for the broccoli to soften slightly.
Drain water from bowl. We like to drain as much as possible, although we know others who like their noodles in a soup. This just ain’t nice.
Add the flavour sachets from earlier. Hope you saved them, we did warn you to.
