The Ninth Wave are rapidly becoming one of the most diverse new bands knocking around right now. Their previous track ‘Love You ‘Til the End’ was their most melodic work yet; reminiscent of The Cure and The Smiths but this recent offering takes us back to their dark, synth-driven roots.
‘Half Pure’ is the bands strongest work to date with a stand-out chorus and catchiest synth hook we’ve heard so far this year. Sounding like a mix between early White Lies and Marilyn Manson, they keep you tapping your toes while maintaining their horror film score vibe, just undeniably great.
It feels like after some trial and error, the band have might have settled on a formula that they’re happy with. The unique male-female duel vocals work perfectly setting them apart from the mass-produced white-socked indie tripe, there’s no doubt we will see more of The Ninth Wave in 2019.
