What’s New? Vessel – Paplu (Love That Moves the Sun)

Bristol-via-London born producer Seb Gainsborough, otherwise known as Vessel, rose to prominence nearly seven years ago. Two LPs in, and with tracks like “Red Sex” and “Drowned in Water and Light” (Punish, Honey, 2014) confirming him as one of the UKs most exciting producers, the expectation levels surrounding his upcoming album Queen of Golden Dogs (out Nov 9th (digitally) & Nov 23rd (physically) via Tri-Angle Records) have been understandably high.

If the first single release, the fiercely vibrant “Argo (For Maggie)”, justified those high expectations, Vessel’s latest single, and indeed its accompanying video, have raised them.

“Paplu (Love That Moves the Sun)” is like ten explosive sonic epiphanies happening at the same time. Orchestral, fizzing, explosive and littered with warped strings and vocal samples, the track is unified by moments of stunning clarity and an underlying sense of progression and transformation – a theme that is reflected in the equally mind-blowing video.
