Following a sold out year, Liverpool Sound City is set to make a glaring return to various venues across the city’s Baltic Triangle.
Taking place from May 3rd to May 5th, the festival boasts 100s of acts who have been bubbling onto the scene as well as a solid selection of renowned headliners.
The inspiring Mabel takes one of the headline slots; having been offered a spot on Harry Styles’ tour earlier this year and collaborating with the likes of Stormzy and Jax Jones, she is a musician on a relentless rise to the top. Mabel has adapted to mainstream success and has joined an army of young talent that is emerging fearlessly onto the pop music scene.
Also headlining is the inspiring London rapper Loyle Carner, a man who is a true master of his craft which has given him the status as one of Britain’s contemporary hip hop pioneers. After recently releasing a new single, ‘Ottolenghi’, he has proven that in 2018 he is as relevant and dynamic as ever after taking over the British hip hop scene in 2017.
The talent doesn’t stop there; The Magic Gang are going to be bringing their charming jangly indie pop to Merseyside in May. Signed to Warner Bros, they have been granted the rare platform to reinvigorate British guitar music into the mainstream again.
Proud Liverpudlian Louis Berry is set to take the stage too, bringing his vintage 50s sound to his hometown. With comparisons to Johnny Cash, his unique modern take on rockabilly has an ever-expanding fan base.
There is an abundance of exciting acts who will join these artists, with 100s more to be announced. Some of the first announcements include: Alligator, Benin City, Cousin Kula, Dancing on Tables, Dayo Bello, Dot, Emily Burns, Giant Rooks, Goodies, Harry Miller, Heavy Lungs, Indigo Lo, Jvck James, Molly Rainford, Monks, Our Girl, Red Rum Club, Roman Lewis, Ryan McMullan, Saltwater Sun, Sophie and the Giants, Spinn, SPQR, Tamu Massif, Tracky and Vistas.
Rebecca Ayres, Sound City’s Managing Director, said: “We are all incredibly proud to announce the first artists joining us in May 2019 for the 12th Sound City. With Loyle Carner and Mabel we have two of the leading artists of their generation, and support from a wide range of emerging talent including our own Louis Berry. Earlier this year, we had a truly magical return back to our roots in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle with our sold out 11th edition. It was an incredible weekend for all who attended from right around the world.”
Liverpool Sound City will take place on May 3rd to May 5th and tickets are on sale now.
