PREMIERE: Lewsberg – The Smile

There must be something in the Dutch water – the country seems to be churning out incredible music at the moment and is showing no sign of stopping. Be it Pip Blom‘s fizzy riffs, The Homesick‘s urgent post-punk or Spill Gold‘s psychedelic dance-punk, the Netherlands are having a moment. We haven’t even begun to mention Mozes + the Firstborn, Robin Kester, Charlie and the Lesbians, OOO and the many others stirring up the status quo.

With that in mind, TMB are thrilled to be hosting the UK premiere for one of the best bands we’ve stumbled upon in Holland, Lewsberg. ‘The Smile’ is a masterful web of guitar riffs and interlocking basslines, sprinkled with charming deadpan delivery. Falling into the schools of Pavement and Talking Heads, distorted chords upturn the hypnotic patterns and the track culminates in a wave of chaos.

Having already supported the likes of Parquet Courts and Exploded View, the art-punks are the signal that the dam is about to burst – prepare for the Dutch to flood through.
