After stumbling upon them in a basement in London, TMB are thrilled to be premiering the debut single from London post-rock 6-piece For Breakfast. Returning from a brief hiatus with a slightly different line-up, ‘Undercurrent’ is the first studio recording from the group and debut for new label Glasshouse Records.
Recorded with Paul Tipler (Placebo, Elastica), the almighty paean shows off the group’s masterful control of their instruments while channelling Virginia Woolf’s obsession with water. Maya Harrison’s arresting vocals rest uneasily on a warm bass loop as a sprightly flute cushions the blows from taut and swelling guitars. Eventually cresting as an ominous tempest, the track ends with Harrison gasping for air amongst unwieldly chaos.
With such talent, it won’t be long before the band break through and have the competition for… well. For Breakfast.
