Free Money are a foursome making serious waves right now. Just as much a bank as they are a band, you’ll find them on socials as the @bankoffreemoney.
We were introduced to ‘the bank’ with a statement explaining their three core values and coyly offering us an account: “Joy, Acceptance and Optimism. Tasked with spreading these core values, our ambassadors, known as ‘Free Money’, represent our organisation in the real world, performing for the people that matter most, people like you.” If most banks had these values, the economy might not be in the shitter, eh?
New single ‘U Got Me’ is our favourite of their 3 smashing singles so far. 80s electro-synths combined with bright scuzzy guitars provide a funky base for a dazzlingly ardent vocal performance. Indie-pop has been taking a backseat for a while, but with bands like Free Money taking the reins with fresh ideas and original tunes, we might just see the genre reign again. Free Money release their killer tunes via Communion/Buff Records. Overseen by Dan White (Tribes) and Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets), if you can’t trust us that they’re brilliant, you can trust them.
We’ve also just announced Free Money on our Blogtober Fest line-up! if you’re in London on the 20th October, head here for more details….
