What’s New? Psychedelic Porn Crumpets – Cornflake

If Australia’s latest rock export can’t grab your attention with a name like Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, then they sure as hell will with their new video for ‘Cornflake’.

This track kicks ass with super heavy fuzzed-up riffs and earth-shaking drums that will have you head banging with glee – not to mention the animated video is one big trip. The video is, as far as I can tell, a galactic chase where anthropomorphic aliens in tribal dress fly through space trying to capture other aliens for some kind of sacrificial ritual. It’s all kinds of weird!

The epic nature of it adds to the whole 60s psychedelic throwback of ‘Cornflake’, to a time when experimenting with drugs was becoming the creative process for many groups.  The vocals are reminiscent of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker (if a little less intelligible), totally enveloped by reverb as if falling into a bottomless chasm. ‘Cornflake’ is all together a great rock track.
