N/\L/\ (pronounced NALA) is the work of 21 year old Leeds based composer/producer Holly Readman. Having only just begun her musical journey after the release of her very first body of work [EP1] in November 2017, the DIY electronica scene has already seen her making serious waves commandeering stages at Live At Leeds and Liverpool Sound City festivals, and receiving airplay from BBC Introducing WY and Tom Robinson’s BBC Radio 6 Mixtape.
New single ‘Look At Me’ is the first release of 2018 for this unique artist. Gritty and slightly creepy in places, the track begins with whispered acapella harmonies before a slow and undulating beat builds up to an explosive chorus. The accompanying video brings together ominous scenes of gore delicately teasing the audience, perfectly encapsulating the mood of the track.
Readman had this to say about the track:
"‘Look At Me’ is about that special moment of detachment, suffocating under actions with complete lack of self-regard, where when confronted by the mirror you find yourself unable to recognise your own reflection."
Spreading the legend of N/\L/\ through her incredible live shows, word about town of this electro-punk artist is growing thick and fast. Described by Scott of Clue Records as “like watching Madonna on speed in the middle of an illegal rave”, N/\L/\’s ‘sad dance’ music is sure to capture the ears of many more around the country in months to come.
