Last time we discussed Harvey Causon he was a man alone, making stunning electronica for the modern day. Now, over 6 months later, he’s back with flatmate and skilled producer in his own right Gabriel Gifford creating pop-worthy R&B that is both subtle yet stands out in the crowd.
The Bristol collaboration’s previous offering ‘Worn You’ receiving BBC Introducing Track of the Week as well as Radio 1 playlisting, and deservedly so. The follow-up comes in the form of new single ‘Branches’, a brighter and more optimistic atmosphere. Glistening arpeggios backed by fluctuating bass start off this dazzling track. Glitchy electronics combined with Causon’s silky smooth vocals creates a magical atmosphere within the song – possibly very different to their DIY home-studio that is was constructed in.
Causon elaborated more about the duo’s latest tune; “The song’s premise is toying with the idea of solipsism and the realisation of the complexity of bias, conditioning and ‘branches’ – a metaphor for natural environment and influence.” ‘Branches’ is the 2nd single from forthcoming EP Murphy’s Hand, due for release this month, so watch this space.
