Leeds thrashers Forever Cult are back with a new member, new song but luckily with that classic scuzzy rock sound we know and love.
Produced By Matt Peel (Eagulls, Bad Breeding) in Leeds, ‘Usurper’ follows 2017’s Homewrecker EP. A trembling bass starts off the rambunctious track followed by trill guitar tones causing intense anticipation and thrill for what’s ahead. The addition of new guitarist Wilko (previously of NARCS) has really given Forever Cult’s sound that rich and resonant element we’ve been craving. Mysterious chord progressions and thrashing drums allude there is much more to come from this now 4-piece…
Vocalist Kieran had this to say about the track:
“Usurper is a cold observation of a night out. The lyrics are about my surroundings and the different feelings and thoughts i had as the night progressed. Slowly deteriorating until the final guitars swell into chaos just like my brain. It's the first song we wrote when Wilko joined the band. Also I think Usurper is a great word”
And what better reason to listen to the track? If all music had a name as good as Usurper, journalism would be redundant.
Usurper is out now via Clue Records. Check it out below:
