What’s New? Makeness – Stepping Out of Sync

Makeness first came to our attention through their releases via Manchester/London label Handsome Dad Records (home to Jerkcurb, Babeheaven) before they moved to the heights of Secretly Canadian. If you enjoy strong sampling within relaxed electronica – we’d recommend you give this track a go.

Their first release of 2018, the band have stepped it up significantly from previous singles ‘Day Old Death’ and ‘Loud Patterns’. While both tracks had significant merit, the production and musical output was clearly more important than the aim of creating a “song” of any sort. ‘Stepping Out of Sync’ however is entirely centred around its beautiful vocal melody with a reasonably traditional and audible verse-chorus structure. This combined with the previously mentioned incredible production makes this one of their best tracks to date.
