Surf-noir quartet La Luz have announced details of their forthcoming third album Floating Features alongside new track ‘Cicada’. Recorded in Los Angeles, the new LP promises to mix the DIY ethos of their debut with the urgency of Weirdo Shrine.
The first taste of the album is available below and reliably twists surf through a ghostly filter with post-punk rhythms and horns contributing to a glossy, hi-fi sheen. Finding the Los Angeles 4-piece in no particular rush, the track mines a dreamy intersection between lazy, sunny days and panicked heat-stroke, and sets the bar high for the rest of the album.
Floating Features is expected May 12th via Hardly Art and is available for pre-order here. UK+EU tour dates are expected soon; the new single and more album details are below.
