Arctangent Festival Announce First Wave of Bands for 2018

Surprise! One of the UK’s (and Earth’s, tbh) best festivals have announced the first wave of bands headlining the 2018 edition of the festival. As always, the festival will take place on Fernhill Farm just outside of Bristol from Thursday the 16th to Saturday the 18th of August. Originally a sister-festival to the hugely popular 2000 Trees, Arctangent has taken on a life of it’s own as Europe’s premier destination for lovers of all types of leftfield and rock and metal music. So if you’re into genre’s with prefixes like ‘post’, ‘math’ or even ‘noise’, chances are that your favourite band are playing this year, or have played in a previous iteration.

This year’s first bumper announcement is that US-based cult math-rock heroes Giraffes? Giraffes! are playing their first ever European festival, and Northern-Irish experts in post-rock bombast And So I Watch You From Afar will be playing their acclaimed 5th record, The Endless Shimmering, in full on a Thursday night headline slot.

There’s plenty of UK talent on display at the festival also, with Tangled Hair due to make an appearance, as well as the increasingly popular Jamie Lenman and post-hardcore workhorses Rolo Tomassi. Plenty of US bands are on the bill too, with former screamos Pianos Become The Teeth joining proceedings, as well as the more subtle Missouri-based emo outfit Foxing, who will presumably be displaying tracks from their as-yet-untitled record which is slated for release later this year.

Tickets are available here! Check out the full first announcement below.
