A year on from that infamous gig with Sean Lennon at the Windmill for Independent Venue Week, Insecure Men have gifted us with a third single from their upcoming self-titled album, out 23rd February via Fat Possum.
‘I Don’t Wanna Dance (with My Baby)’ draws us further into the devilish yet cartoonish world of the group, continuing the lo-fi, easy-listening shimmering pop that featured on previous two tracks ‘Teenage Toy‘ and ‘Subaru Nights‘. Saul Adamczewski’s (Fat White Family, Warmduscher) uncompromising drawl sits a top of driving guitars, dreamy synths and swelling lap-steels and saxophones, resulting in a beautiful track with an infectious chorus.
Despite the very pretty instrumental, an element of seediness is here, too. Adamczewski’s vocals are coupled with that of a chorus of children creating a fairly creepy atmosphere throughout the song, reinforcing the bands mission to make “pretty music with a dark underbelly to it”.
‘I Don’t Wanna Dance (with My Baby)’ is certainly a stand out track and has only heightened excitement for the album. With Insecure Men touring the UK across March, make sure you catch them at least once:
