London-based singer songwriter Tally Spear can definitely count 2017 as a good year. Her debut single ‘Days Like These’ is currently sitting on a healthy 100k+ streams, she’s had support from Clash, BBC Radio London, Radio 2’s Bob Harris and has just been nominated for an Unsigned Music Award.
As often with these kind of annoyingly talented people, the apple hasn’t fell far from the tree. Her mum is a trained theatre actress and her dad has been involved in music for decades. Therefore, a creative pursuit was inevitable for the young West Londoner. Music however, isn’t the end of the story with Tally. A strong believer in animals and women’s rights, she’s totally unafraid to confront issues head-on. Her involvement with a number of UK charities and organisations is testament to that.
Over the past year or so, Tally has built herself a tidy little fanbase in and around the UK, working the grass-roots venue circuit, or at least what’s left of it. Now looking towards her new EP release in February, Tally has shared the melancholic, hook-driven new single ‘Just Don’t Know’. Hinting at her folk & americana roots, the single effortlessly blends into an anthemic chorus of vocal harmonies and crunchy guitar riffs. Lyrically, it’s an awesome piece of storytelling that hints at traditional genres, with a contemporary flair.
