Totally, the DIY quartet that first caught our ears with ‘Falling Apart’ – a beautiful single imagining Angel Olsen covering Destiny’s Child – today release the glorious ‘Ghost Away’. Heralding the return with a few humble guitar chords, it’s a slow-burning takedown of a very modern problem: ghosting.
Slowly, the modest intro – repeated throughout the song to dazzlingly hypnotic effect – builds, wave-like, into an anthem for the unfairly abandoned until it eventually and gloriously crests; harmonies pour forth like a waterfall, chanting a defiant mantra of “get on or get off”. Loaded with straightforward guitar solos and enchanting harmonies, the four-piece comfortably find the middle ground in their strange pool of influences, elevating their sound to confidently soar above them. ‘Ghost Away’ is totally wicked.
