Hookworms announce new album ‘Microshift’ and share single ‘Negative Space’

Hookworms are back! Yeah, you read that right. The Leeds quintet have today announced the release of third album Microshift – alongside its first single and UK tour dates.

Like a mix between Talking Heads and Django Django, ‘Negative Space’ debuts a newer, more electro-focused sound from the Leeds outfit. It’s stupidly catchy and stunningly radiant, holding on to that same ferocious energy and intricate musicianship that we fell in love with on Pearl Mystic and The Hum.

Written and recorded following the GoFundMe-led rebuild of Hookworms’ Suburban Home Studio after the 2015 River Aire floods, it’s no surprise that Microshift revolves around defiance and darkness. On the album’s inspirations, MJ explains: “All of our records are to an extent about mental health. Largely this is an album about loss but also about maturing, accepting your flaws and the transience of intimacy”.
