It isn’t hard to see why Sauropod are supporting Sløtface at their forthcoming Camden Assembly show on 25 October. Latest track ‘Never On Time’ churns out a similarly ear-pleasing, head-banging, melodic pop-rock sound – with a pumping bassline very much to the fore.
However, that isn’t their only style. Previous singles have been totally different, bringing together a melange of genres that aren’t easily classifiable despite most of their songs being played at this pace. But as is often noted, that can be the case with mainland European/Nordic bands who don’t subscribe to the notion of being overly categorised as British ones often do.
A trio consisting of Jonas Røyeng (guitar, vocals), Kamillia Waal Larsen (bass, vocals) and Jørgen Natland Apeness (drums), Sauropod are named after a lizard-hipped dinosaur – but this one isn’t likely to follow its peers into extinction any time soon.
