What’s New? 01/10/17 (Joy Again, Harvey Causon, Grieving)

What’s New? is the place to come for your new music fix – exclusively here on Too Many Blogs. Every Sunday we bring you 3 new tracks for essential listening.

Joy Again – Kim + On A Farm

Now over on Never Grow Up Records, Joy Again are back again with a 2 for the price of 1 deal on banging tunes this week. ‘Kim + On A Farm’ come as one but couldn’t differ more, one a tune full of jangly guitars based on Kim Kardashian and the other a hazy, mystical slow track more similar to Marika Hackman’s early music than anything else. Again, their music is a joy.

Harvey Causon – Frisson

With a voice smoother than honey, and subtly tight electronic production Glass Animals would be jealous of, Harvey Causon has got it all. Luscious synths, xylophones and whistles, the layers of textured sound are honestly stunning. “Make the blackbird sing, make the blackbird sing” Causon repeats, who knew this track could become even more hypnotic? Out now on Leisure Records, check it out.

Grieving – Start Young

Cambridge lot Grieving never cease to impress with their scuzzy emo, after hit single ‘Brian Emo’ gained plenty of coverage a few months ago they have returned with new track ‘Start Young’. “I’ll carve the way for us” are the words screamed out as the track begins, it’s hard to concentrate after this point as you will be too busy nodding your head ferociously as the music increasingly takes you over.
