Following its storming 2016 debut, Manchester’s multi-venue live music event and conference, Off The Record, is returning to its Northern Quarter home on the 10th November 2017.
Launched by From the Fields, Off The Record gives a platform to both industry speakers and emerging artists to inspire new ideas, music and relations. This year’s curators include Brix Smith-Start (The Fall), Phil Taggart (Radio 1), Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets), Elizabeth Alker (6Music), Jamz Supernova (1Xtra) and Mike Walsh (Radio X). Panels include ‘Break Down Barriers, We Will Come’ – which features Suzanne Bull MBE of charity Attitude is Everything in a discussion of grassroots venues and how to improve gigs for deaf and disabled people.
Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi says: “Last year’s sold out event highlights the appetite not only for there to be a spotlight on new musicians, but that Manchester as a city is a bustling hub for live music. It was fantastic to see professionals regaling their advice and networking with those trying to break into the industry.”
Venues include Soup Kitchen, Gullivers and the newly-established Jimmy’s. The 30 artist line-up won’t be announced until 24 hours before the event – but with last years date boasting the likes of Strong Asian Mothers, Willie J Healy and Eat Fast, it’s sure not to disappoint.
