Oro Swimming Hour is the new project from Bristol’s Oliver Wilde and illustrator Nicholas Stevenson, and with a debut album due on Friday, ‘Squint’ gives us another glimpse of the sweet, lo-fi gem the LP promises to be.
Intimate and off-kilter, the track points to Bon Iver and Elliott Smith, with two-track harmonies and diverse instrumentation. A wilting coda adds gorgeous mortality, with the song ending on a long drawn synth note and promising optimism. Friday can’t come soon enough – ‘Penrose Winoa’ will be glorious.
Oro Swimming Hour’s debut album, ‘Penrose Winoa’, is out on 28th July via Art is Hard.
