Recorded directly to tape, Honkies’ ‘Entitled to Nothing’ was never going to be a high production marvel. Instead, it’s a dirty and distorted take on country, chewed up and spat out with synths, and all the better for it. A drum machine loop powers a plodding lullaby, until guitar feedback sneaks in and stains the quaint call-and-answer vocals. Definitely not a track for sending children to sleep – it’s built for messy and rowdy crowds (regularly found in droves at a Honkies gig).
‘Entitled to Nothing’ will be self-released as a double A-side single with ‘Moving to Berlin’ on limited cassette in the near future.
