Three clicks and we’re in – Team Picture don’t mess around. The intro to new single ‘Air, Not Air’ has the air of classic krautrock yet with an ultimately contemporary energy that no one but Team Picture can produce. If Kasabian would bother to check them out, Meighan and Pizzorno might understand that guitar music is nowhere near dead.
The Leeds quintet have been wowing us here on TMB since their debut single ‘Birthday Blues’ all the way to their last track ‘Back To Bay Six’, so we are honoured to be premiering their new single. Fuzz-filled guitars naturally ebb and flow as frontman Josh yelps “and it’s all gone west, and it’s all gone west again” before an almost psychedelic mystical middle eight comes out to greet us.
This is what Josh had to say about the track:
“It’s a chunktastic slice of hip-wiggling swirl-rock, featuring a throbulous central riff and a churning everybody-solo- wigout of an outro. We recorded with producer and modular synth fancier Matt Peel (Eagulls, Weirds, WH Lung, Pulled Apart By Horses, Autobahn). It’s our loving send off before descending into a secret and ancient bunker ‘neath the surface of the earth to write and record all summer.”
