What’s New? Matt Maltese – As The World Caves In

If you can listen to a Matt Maltese song and not fall in love with his voice, then your world is one that I don’t want to live in.

On Tuesday Mr. Maltese released his first track of 2017 and also the first since he signed to Atlantic Records. For those of you that have heard his stuff in the past, you’ll be pleased to know that he has done it again with ‘As The World Caves In’.

The track takes the idea of an everyday activity – watching TV with a lover – and warping it with a tongue-in-cheek playfulness to rival Jarvis Cocker and Leonard Cohen, ‘As The World Caves In’ imagines Theresa May and Donald Trump having one last night of romance together while they trigger atomic warfare. “Hopefully it comes across romantic, sexy, but also sinister and stupid. It goes without saying but everything’s a bit sinister and stupid in 2017”, Matt explained to The Fader.
