Kicking off with a Clangers-like synth and wandering into a wonky organ riff, ‘The Never Never’ intrigues from the start and never lets off. Witty lyrics and deadpan delivery propel the chugging beast of a track along, as distorted guitars climb on top of Dracula’s organs and unmask the band’s macabre influences. A step away from the loose, psych jangle of debut ‘Human Baby’, but nevertheless in the same exciting direction.
Assembled from former members of Fat White Family and Meatraffle, and already grabbing the attention of Steve Lamacq, it won’t be long before they’re headlining venues bigger than South London’s beloved Windmill.
