This is my first What’s New? post of the year and it has been reserved for a top tune!
Mondo Cozmo appeared on Too Many Blogs for the first time in November with the track ‘Shine’, but now he’s back with the superbly catchy ‘Higher’. The track, which is undoubtedly going to be a hit at festivals this summer*, has a huge LCD Soundsystem vibe about it. A fact which he recently acknowledged himself, stating “Black Francis and James Murphy will soon know how much I rip them off” when revealing that he’ll be playing Shaky Knees festival.
*the last time I made this prediction was with Nathaniel Rateliff’s ‘S.O.B.’, got it right!
With three rather top-notch tracks to his name and a genuinely interesting social media presence, Mondo Cozmo is someone that you’ll be seeing a lot more of during 2017.
LA’s Mondo Cozmo kick starts 2017 by releasing his most upbeat and infectious offering yet “Higher”, along with its accompanying video that features the skilled artist, designer, writer, and actor, Paz de la Huerta (Boardwalk Empire). As intriguing as the track itself.
The song comes as Mondo Cozmo’s last single “Shine,” has rocketed up into the top 5 of the AAA chart in the US. With support also coming from BBC Radio1, Zane Lowe, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, NME, Mr Porter, The 405 and BEAT Magazine amongst others and now with 3 equally as compelling tracks available (also the stunning Plastic Soul, only available to fans who email Mondo Cozmo’s lawyer, due to an cleared sample) and the finishing touches currently being put on his debut album in Joshua Tree, 2017 is setting up to be Mondo Cozmo’s year.
